Uwadiae—who will be sentenced at a later date—pled guilty to 22 criminal charges, including eight counts of cyberstalking, in U.S. District Court in Columbus on May 22.

Each cyberstalking count carries a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison, as do the unlawful use of identification charges. The extortion charges each carry a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

After receiving sexually explicit images or videos from the victims, Uwadiae would then threaten them. Some of the victims had not disclosed their sexual orientations to their families or the public. If the victim refused to pay, Uwadiae demanded they meet up with him for sex or force them to make incriminating statements, such as saying they were racist, to place more pressure on them.

Windy City Times discovered that, according to The Ohio State University commencement program, Uwadiae himself graduated from the school cum laude in 2018. He also received a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in 2021.
