On Oct. 11, former Personal PAC President & CEO Terry Cosgrove, married longtime partner Robert Ruggero
Ruggero is a retired radiologist who hails from Milwaukee.

After emailing and talking on the phone for months, we finally met in person and our relationship grew from there into a deep love and respect for each other. During our 6.5 years together, so many people have asked when we were getting married, but we decided our relationship was perfect and we didn’t need to do that.
Now that we are traveling all over the world and the U.S. Supreme Court is all but certain to overturn marriage equality (think “Roe v.Wade will never be overturned” for those who doubt it), we want to be protected in the event of a health emergency and possibly grandfathered in after the undoing of marriage equality by that court.
We are both complete Francophiles, with Robert speaking French. When we were in Paris this past June, we discussed the potential of needing to live in France someday in the event of a post-democratic America. Being able to do that as a married EU couple makes that possible.
Illinois Supreme Court Justices Mary Kay O’Brien and Joy Cunningham performed the marriage ceremony in Cunningham’s chamber, where she spoke from a podium used by Abraham Lincoln. Robert’s two children and daughter-in-law attended. A Chicago celebration well after Nov. 5 is being planned.
