Friends and family are asking for help locating Taylor Casey, a 41-year-old woman from Chicago who went missing in the Bahamas June 19.
Casey was last seen June 19 at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in Paradise Island, which is located near Nassau. The Royal Bahamas Police Force issued a missing person poster June 21, alerting the public of her disappearance.
A group of people, including Casey’s mother, Collette Seymore, is traveling to Paradise Island to coordinate with local authorities. People can donate online to support their efforts.
An “intelligent, deeply caring and thoughtful person,” Casey has been practicing yoga for 15 years, according to those organizing the search. She went to the yoga teacher training retreat as part of a long-term goal to deepen her practice.
“We are deeply concerned for Taylor’s safety and well-being,” Seymore said in a news release. “We love Taylor and want her home. I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return. Taylor would never disappear like this.”
Casey is described as a light-skinned Black woman, approximately 5’10 and 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has natural hair often covered by a durag.
Anyone with information about Casey’s disappearance can contact the Royal Bahamas Police Force Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2 or Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).
